Top Tips on How to Book A Wedding Photographer

Are you planning your wedding? Candid, Documentary, Fine Art, Candid, Classic, Sentimental, and ahh! Wedding photography seems such a simple thing to google... then you google it! You get overwhelmed with options, from different styles, different people, same styles, and similar people. It can be a daunting task to embark on, and I completely empathise with how much of a minefield it can be as I felt the same when I got married.

Well, to help you narrow down all of your options, let me show you some quick tips to help you find your perfect wedding photographer!

Meet Your Photographer Before You Book

This is so important, as they will be hanging out with you all day long at your wedding, so it's so crucial that no only do you like them as a person, but you trust what they have in store for you, and you trust them. So, in this day and age, it's so easy to meet people, whether organising in person, or on skype or zoom and most professionals photographers will actually demand you have a consultation call with them first. Not only for their benefit, but yours too.

Try to ignore the Price Tag

It's natural for people to want to find a bargain, with anything, but is it worth it when it comes to your wedding? Sometimes if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys, and that definitely shouldn't be the case with your keepsakes of your wedding day. Once you find a few photographers you like, instead of basing your choice on style, base it on their reviews, their packages, their personality and especially the experience. A well experienced photographer will come with a solid price tag, as that pays for their years of work, their education, their portfolio, their tips and tricks, and of course their equipment on the day. Stay away from budget photographers doing it as a hobby as you don't want to run the risk of getting back your images and not liking them!

Book engagement shoot so you can try before you buy!

This is great way to get to meet your photographer and see how they work before your wedding day! Are you nervous in front of the camera? Even more of a reason to do a practice run! Doing a shoot before the wedding day is fantastic practice, and you’ll become more familiar with your photographer before the day of the wedding, which helps you guys vibe together better when the wedding rolls around.
